
Perry-Sheldon Endowment
The Perry-Sheldon Endowment Grant for Professional/Personal Growth may be awarded to educators in NC public schools or universities across the state with preference given to educators and support personnel in Nash/Edgecombe Counties or Region IX of NC DKG. Possibilities include attendance at conferences and seminars, educational travel, or projects to support the work of the applicant with PK-12 or college students.
The Perry-Sheldon Endowment was created by Barbara Perry-Sheldon, Ed.D., and Kenneth Sheldon, Ed.D., to celebrate the opportunities they have had to work with pre-service educators, teachers, psychologists, and students. Both have been active leaders in several professional organizations. Dr. Perry-Sheldon was president of the NC Reading Association (NCRA) and the NC Association of Teacher Educators, and Dr. Sheldon served as treasurer of NCRA and the NC School Psychology Association. Dr. Perry-Sheldon was inducted in DKG in 1988 by Mu Chapter and is now a member of Alpha Gamma. She served seven years as the Executive Secretary of NC DKG; she has served on numerous NC DKG and International committees and boards. Both encourage all educators to pursue personal and professional growth opportunities.
