2025 Tournament Recap
Six years and still growing, Tee It Up for Teachers continues to be a successful event raising funds for Foundation grants. Ten teams returned from last year and four new teams joined us for a delightful afternoon on the golf course at Colonial Country Club in Thomasville.
Golfers from Waynesville to Manteo participated! Tournament Sponsors were Sam Ramsey’s Asheboro Chick-fil-A, Keith Holland of Troutman, Maxine McCall of Drexel, Patrick Swindell Tyson of Greenville, David & Sheila Groves of Greensboro, and Carol Taylor Vannoy of Greenville along with 22 Hole Sponsors.
Returning volunteers included Lisa Frissen, Elaine McRae, Myra Aderholdt, Debra Groce, Sharon Frazier, Jeff Frazier, Sheila Groves, and Dottie McKinney. NC DKG President Janie Webb and Beta Delta Chapter President April Dunovant were new on the volunteer roster. The loyalty of our golfers, the generosity of sponsors, and the dedication of volunteers make this a very special event!
Congratulations to the winners: First Place Magic Team – Greg Nixon, Mark Langlle, Richard Walburn, and John Ackerman;
Second Place Spainhour Team – Claire Spainhour, Becky Gentry, Frankie Gentry, and Taylor Gentry;
Third Place Crtl+Alt+Delinquents Team – Josh Brown, Russ Brown, Mike St.Hilaire, and Sean Lally.
Special awards went to Claire Spainhour and Russ Brown for Closest to the Pin and to Katie Martin and Mike St. Hilaire for the Longest Drive.

Make plans to take part in Tee It Up for Teachers this year! Proceeds go to the North Carolina DKG Educational Foundation to support our grants program. Foundation grants provide funding for educational projects and professional development opportunities impacting students and teachers across our state.
The 2026 Foundation charity golf tournament is Saturday, October 10 at Colonial Country Club, 7047 Colonial Club Drive, Thomasville, NC.
The 18 hole, Captain’s Choice round begins with a shotgun start at 2:00 p.m. The three teams with the lowest scores will be recognized. Individual prizes awarded for closest-to-the-pin and longest drive.
If you can’t join us on the course, please be a sponsor, levels $500, $300, $100. Sponsors include name on signage and in North Carolina DKG publications.
