The NCDKG Educational Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of the Fall 2022 Grants.
FOUNDATION GRANTS
LEARNING/LITERACY PROJECT
Lauren Moore Kinston, NC Sigma
THERE’S BIG MONEY IN STUDENT GROWTH INCENTIVES - The goal of this project is to encourage students to participate in targeted and individualized instruction. Students will be monitored by local and state assessments. This grant will be used to purchase incentive items for a raffle drawing. Students receive a raffle ticket for each point of growth. The opportunity to win items will motivate students to participate in targeted instruction and show significant gains in benchmark testing data.

BE GREAT WITH eduCRATE! – This project will provide two beginning teachers in Chatham and Wayne Counties with eduCrate materials designed to provide professional growth for these teachers , including student-centered text and accompanying instructional guide, with strategies for teacher use.
Dr. Laura Szech and Kemeka Sidbury Wilmington, NC
LITERACY AND COOKING: A FAMILY AND COMMUNITY BOOK CLUB PROJECT – This project will enable sixth grade students and their parents to participate in a literacy-focused cooking club using the book Black Food: Stories, Art, and Recipes from Across the African Diaspora. After families and students read and discuss the stories at home together, they will then meet in groups to discuss the stories and cook a recipe together. This project will provide the food for the group meals.

WHATEVER THE WEATHER – This project will enable students in grade 2 to use technologically sophisticated and student-created tools to measure weather conditions.
